The Shakes

When I started working out I was reading a couple of blogs were women lost a good amount of weight. They talked about protein shakes. Oh no, I thought, those are gross. The thought of slim fast out those metal cans with the crazy aftertaste entered my mind. Yuck! Could never do it! After my workout one day I stopped and talked to the gym owner. She said she started doing Herbalife shakes to take off some baby weight. I took the card and catalog she had. The next week went to the store and they made me a sample. It was good! Like a milk shake! So two weeks ago I started eating the shakes for breakfast and lunch during the week. It keeps me from eating junk during the day. Plus I get to go in once a week for a check up. In the last two weeks I have lost 2.8 lbs and 6.75 inches. 3 of those inches are from my waist! Getting there slowly but surely. This is me at the RS Luau on March 8th 2012. To me my legs look thinner. With spring around the corner I cleaned out my closet. Tried everything on if it was to big it came out. No more just in case jeans. Felt so good to get rid of it.

Nick had his Ag Soils final last night. So glad for the last 8 weeks to be over. Not having him home 4 nights a week was hard. He got an A in the class!!! So proud of him. Not every man can do what he does. He is the love of my life! This week he has spring break and the weather is going to be great. Planning on getting lots done outside. Starting a garden, cleaning, and brush hogging. Oh and working on the new dune buggy! Nick wants to drive it every day when its nice to save gas. I am excited to have a fun date night convertible. Ready for a good week! Mason is going to ride in the LS Snake Saturday parade with Neena and Pa Pa for the  KC Jeep Club. Can't wait to get pictures of him!

Well last week I was a slacker. I wasn't able to go to the gym during the day. I could have gone before Nick left for work....but that didn't happen. So I missed a week. Have gotten bad about not filling in my food log. But through it I still lost 2 lbs. Yippee! To bad I went to the gym twice this week, logged and gained those 2 lbs back. I know I know muscle weighs more than fat. I still need to get my measurements.

Mason was trying to say magnets today and it came out as maggots. Always makes me laugh. Porter is becoming a real boy. Not wanting baby food much anymore. Wants real people food. Ate half of Masons grilled cheese tonight. They are getting to be good friends. Learning to share and love each other.

We have two more weeks of Nick being gone 4 nights a week. Thank goodness! Really starting to miss him. We had our first real snow this winter. But it melted the next day. Snowing one day, 54 degrees the next. Crazy Missouri weather.

The Small Things

Friday Nick went with me grocery shopping. I wasn't out of breath from bringing the groceries in the house. On Saturday we went to the RV Show with my parents. We were walking through all the campers  and I was feeling good even after a few hours with Porter attached to me. On our long walk back to the car I noticed that I still felt great not tired or out of breath. I had plenty of energy and air to chase Mason. We went to out to dinner after the show. I was able to eat be satisfied and control my portion. It was liberating. I didn't want to eat the whole thing! I am able to crawl on the floor and let Mason ride on my back without feeling exhausted. Sleep comes easily. I haven't been doing this for very long but I can already see the results in my day to day life. How could I ever let myself be out of shape again?! Gym routine for today- 15 mins of arm strength training, 30 min = 2.15 miles on the elliptical, and 20 mins yoga. I love yoga! I can feel myself get stronger and more flexible every time. It is wonderful. We bought Mason his first bike. It is a little big, but he can touch the petals. He is in love with it. I am excited for him to ride it when we go on walks. Mama will be able to keep up. The Temple Run is going to be May 19th this year. 5k going to try to jog it! Got a little over 4 months to get there!

Begining Pictures

I like pictures in blogs. Seeing it is easier to track progress. Even though the pictures aren't that good and I don't have very many. Most of the time I am the one taking the pictures.

March 2011, 7 months pregant with Porter, At Shreveport LA
Temple Run May 2011, 9 months pregant with Porter

State Fair August 2011, 3 months after Porter
This is it. The picture that made me realize I needed to change. I can't live like this. Christmas 2011. I don't want to look like this in my boys childhood memories. What memories would they have with a out of shape mom?! My life is on track. Two amazing sons, a wonderful husband, country life, and spiritually fit. Too bad through those things I wasn't thinking about my health. After Porter I finally noticed that I wasn't as strong as I had been. Out breath easily. Couldn't lift things that I had in the past. Little things like getting up off the floor after playing with Mason was difficult.
January 13th 2011 I started going to the gym and counting calories. Thanks to myfitnesspal and anytime fitness. Cut my calorie intake to 1350 a day. It was hard the first week I always felt hungry. Went to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. 20 mins cardio- treadmill or elliptical. 20 mins yoga or pilates. 1 day of strength training. From the 13th to the 27th I went from 255 lbs to 242. 12lbs lost! Success to fuel the next 2 weeks.
The long term goal is 160lbs. It will be a journey.
